Vauxhall is set to give a sneak peak of its future estate car design at the Paris Motor Show.

The British brand and its Opel sibling will reveal the STX Concept at next month’s event, which is widely expected to point towards the future styling of the Astra Sports Tourer.

Vauxhall says the STX Concept “signals the brand’s vision for the future of the estate car, while previewing the next evolution of Vauxhall’s bold and pure design language”.

It also says that the STX name stands for Sports Tourer eXperimental, associating the concept with Vauxhall’s long-standing Sports Tourer line-up.

Announcing the concept’s scheduled appearance, Vauxhall pointed to its long history of building “practical and innovative” estate cars and name-checked the current Astra Sports Tourer several times, reinforcing the belief that the show car is an early indication of the next-generation Astra.

Florian Huettl, Opel-Vauxhall CEO, said: “As the name indicates, the STX Concept will give our vision for the evolution of a body style, more than just a specific car line. It shows our dedication to estate cars – a body style that Opel-Vauxhall played a pioneering role in establishing in Europe. It shows our next-generation design language and features elements that you will see in future production models.”

The new Astra will be based on the STLA One architecture which is set to underpin a vast array of upcoming Stellantis EVs, from superminis such as the next-generation Peugeot E-208 to a new compact Jeep and an MPV based on the radical Citroen ELO.

Alongside the Vauxhall STX Concept, the Paris show will give the first clues to a new high-performance Astra. The brand will showcase its new Astra GSE Line – a sporty trim level which will arrive shortly ahead of a full-on 277bhp Astra GSE that will launch later in 2027.

The Paris Motor Show runs from October 13-18 and you can read about all the EVs to watch out for here.
