Porsche upgrades Macan to 22 kW AC charging

The upcoming Porsche Macan is making an impact at AC charging stations: the top-end variants of the eSUV, the GTS and Turbo, will soon feature a 22 kW onboard charger as standard. This feature will also be available as an option in the remaining variants. Additionally, Porsche is introducing a Business package.

In the latest model year, Porsche is bundling its most popular options for its fully electric SUV into a new package for the Macan, Macan 4, and Macan 4S variants. The ‘Business Package’ is priced at €5,990.46 (including VAT) in Germany for the Macan and Macan 4, and €5,299.07 for the Macan 4S. According to Porsche, this offers a price advantage of up to 45 per cent compared to ordering all the package options individually. However, prices for the new model year have increased moderately across the board – partly due to the expanded standard equipment, as electrive learned from Porsche upon request. More details on this expanded equipment will follow. First, here are the old and new prices:

Macan new from €82,200 (previously €81,200)

Macan 4 new from €85,600 (previously €84,600)

Macan 4S new from €92,200 (previously €91,200)

Macan GTS new from €106,100 (previously €104,200)

Macan Turbo new from €117,800 (previously €115,500)

The Business Package includes a panoramic roof system, Matrix LED headlights, automatically dimming interior and exterior mirrors, and the choice of an exterior colour from the ‘Contrasts’ and ‘Shades’ categories. For the interior, the package offers special comfort seats, a black leather package, and a Bose sound system. In terms of suspension, it includes Servotronic Plus steering, adaptive air suspension with level control and height adjustment, and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM).

Separately, Porsche is upgrading the standard AC charging power for the top-of-the-range Macan GTS and Macan Turbo models. Thanks to a factory-installed 22 kW on-board charger, charging at public charging stations or a compatible wallbox is now significantly faster. However, Porsche does not specify the charging time from 10 to 100 per cent. It is worth noting that this standard upgrade for AC charging does not apply to the Macan, Macan 4, and Macan 4S variants. These models continue to charge at a maximum of 11 kW, although 22 kW charging will be available as an optional extra from the new model year.

Additionally, the model update for the Macan includes new standard equipment across all variants: adaptive cruise control and Automated Parking with 2D Surround View, the latter of which “automatically detects parking spaces between and in front of objects. With this system, the turn signal is activated automatically and the vehicle takes over the parking manoeuvre for both parallel and perpendicular spaces as well as manoeuvring out of parallel spaces,” Porsche explains.

Further parking functions, including Remote Park Assist – which allows parking manoeuvres to be controlled via smartphone – are available as optional extras. Moreover, smartphones can now be charged significantly faster in the Macan: the wireless charging pad in the centre console now offers a charging power of up to 25 watts, up from the previous 15 watts.

By the way: within Porsche’s lineup, the Macan is now a purely battery-electric vehicle. Production of the Macan with a combustion engine ended in July. A new combustion-engine successor is not expected until 2028.
