Volkswagen has introduced a new long wheelbase (LWB) version of its ID Buzz Cargo van with more cargo space and increased towing capacity over the regular model.
At 2,458mm the VW ID Buzz Cargo LWB’s floor is increased by 250mm to free up an additional 0.5m3 of stowage space in the loading bay.
The ID Buzz Cargo LWB offers a maximum payload of 606kg on all-wheel-drive (AWD) variants, and 700kg on rear-wheel-drive (RWD)models. Irrespective of drivetrain, VW fits all versions of the ID Buzz Cargo LWB with a wooden floor and a second sliding door as standard.
The LWB’s sliding door is 19cm wider than the regular ID Buzz’s, allowing for a Euro pallet to fit through. VW offers the model with a two- or three-seat cab options.
VW ID Buzz Cargo LWB powertrain, battery, and range
Irrespective of drivetrain, the ID Buzz Cargo LWB is available with an 86kWh battery, 7kWh more than the standard wheelbase model. In RWD guise, it produces 282bhp. When fitted with Volkswagen’s AWD 4Motion system, power jumps to 335bhp thanks to a second motor.

Both offer a maximum towing capacity of 1,800kg – 800kg more than the standard wheelbase model.
New tech and equipment
The VW ID Buzz Cargo LWB comes with Volkswagen’s latest ID software suite, which introduces a new set of features. Alongside standard one-pedal driving, Travel Assist, which automatically brings the vehicle to a stop at a red traffic light, is an optional extra. Vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality comes as standard, and enables electrical devices to be powered directly from the 86kWh battery at 3kW using a PowerSocket adapter.

Volkswagen’s new Innovision infotainment system is fitted to the ID Buzz Cargo LWB, and can be paired with the driver’s smartphone. It offers a raft of downloadable apps related to audio and video streaming, parking, charging, and gaming. A new steering wheel with physical buttons instead of haptic switchgear is also part of the package.
