India: Ultraviolette Automotive launches its first e-2W with 100V architecture

Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ultraviolette Automotive has introduced a 100-volt electrical architecture called 'VX-100'. The Bengaluru-based startup has simultaneously launched the X-47 Venom, a crossover motorcycle, as its first application.

Ultraviolette says the three key elements of its VX-100 platform are a new ‘SRB-11’ battery pack, a new ‘Light Fury’ motor, and a new motor controller, all developed in-house. The SRB-11 battery pack is the largest battery pack used in a two-wheeler in India, with an energy storage capacity of 11 kWh.

Compared to the SRB10 unit of the original X-47, SRB-11 possesses 25 per cent more energy density, cools two times faster, is 15 per cent lighter, and supports charging twice as fast. Ultraviolette claims it is the only electric two-wheeler battery pack in India to support DC charging at up to 12 kW. The Light Fury motor has an aviation-derived design and is 25 per cent lighter than the previous-generation unit and two times more power-dense. It uses soft magnetic composites, has a trapezoidal coil topology, and spins at up to 9,000 rpm.

The new motor controller features silicon carbide power transistors and weighs just 2.5 kg, which makes it 40 per cent lighter than the previous-generation unit. It also delivers three times the power density.

Ultraviolette offers the X-47 Venom in standard, plus, Recon, and Recon+ variants. The standard and plus variants share a new 7.5 kWh battery pack, and the Recon and Recon+ variants share the new 11 kWh battery pack that can be charged at up to 12 kW. The former delivers a range of 227 kilometres and the latter delivers 343 kilometres, both as per IDC. The plus and Recon+ variants include a 1.6 kW on-board charger.

A standard-fit 30 kW motor allows the X-47 Venom to accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in 5.9 seconds, making it the quickest Indian-made motorcycle on the market. Flat out, the new model reaches 155 kph. The X-47 Venom boasts a host of premium features aimed at tech-savvy riders, such as cruise control, an IP67-rated 7-inch touchscreen with on-board navigation, a 35-watt USB Type-C charging port, a rear-camera-based parking assistant, and front and rear dashcams. Additionally, a 77 GHz long-range rear radar provides four rider assistance functions: Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Change Assist, Overtake Alert, and Rear Collision Warning.

Ultraviolette has set the retail price of the base X-47 Venom in India at 300,000 rupees (~€2,800 euros). However, as part of a launch promotion, it is offering a discount of 35,000 rupees (~€330) to the first 5,000 customers, bringing the starting price down to 265,000 rupees (~€2,500). The company has 55 showrooms across the country and plans to grow that figure to 100 outlets by the first quarter of 2027.

In Europe, where Ultraviolette is present in 20 countries, it plans to launch the new model at EICMA 2026 on 3 November. In an interview with electrive.com on the sidelines of the event, CTO and Co-founder Niraj Rajmohan said that the company plans to commence deliveries of the X-47 Venom in Europe in early 2027. So far, it has only offered the F77 in the Old Continent, and since it commenced sales in July-August 2025, it has delivered about 500 to 700 units.

Ultraviolette builds the F-77 and X-47 at a factory in Bengaluru, which offers a limited production capacity of 30,000 units, which can be expanded to 50,000 to 60,000 units. The company is building a new 250,000-unit ‘BIGGA’ factory in Hosur (Tamil Nadu), and this site will have the space to double the capacity to 500,000 units in the future. Rajmohan told us that the new manufacturing facility will roll out the Tesseract, a premium scooter, and the Shockwave, an enduro motorcycle, both of which will also feature the VX-100 architecture. It is working on bringing these models also to Europe.

Asked when Ultraviolette will launch a fully-faired electric motorcycle, Rajmohan did not reveal the timeline but hinted that the company will announce plans to launch the F99 after the Tesseract launch, scheduled in the first quarter of 2027. For the uninitiated, the F99 is a fully faired high-performance motorcycle featuring a 400-volt architecture and a motor producing 90 kW and 200 Nm of torque. It weighs just 180 kg, the same as the X-47 Venom with the 7.5 kWh battery pack, reaches 0 to 100 km/h in just three seconds, and achieves a top speed of 265 km/h (estimated). Specifications of the potential production version arriving later may vary.
