Hubject now supplies charging data to Localiser

Hubject and Localiser are forming a strategic data partnership which will see data from Hubject's international network flow into Localiser's platform. This will enable operators, municipalities, and investors to plan charging infrastructure more precisely and operate existing locations more efficiently.

As part of the collaboration, Hubject is providing the Berlin-based company Localiser with both point of interest (POI) data and real-world usage information for charging stations. The data is sourced from the Hubject network, which, according to the company, includes over 1.1 million charge points across more than 75 countries. Localiser plans to use this information to evaluate new locations and analyse existing charging infrastructure.

Localiser’s platform is designed for both charge point operators, municipalities, and investors, enabling them to assess potential sites for charging infrastructure. The company states that over 35,000 such site evaluations are conducted monthly. These assessments already incorporate data on population, traffic, points of interest, and competition to forecast energy demand and utilisation. The additional Hubject data will now enhance these calculations with real-world usage patterns from a vast charging network.

“Charging infrastructure only serves drivers if it’s built where it’s actually needed,” says Hubject CEO Christian Hahn. By integrating network data, location decisions can be based more on actual usage patterns and less on projections alone.

However, the collaboration is not limited to determining where new charge points should be installed. Localiser also plans to use Hubject’s data to optimise sites that are already operational. Through dashboards and reports, operators will be able to track market developments and compare the utilisation of their own charge points with aggregated data from the network.

This addresses an increasingly important question in the expansion of charging infrastructure: alongside the sheer number of charge points, their economic utilisation is becoming a sharper focus. For new sites in particular, real-world usage data from comparable charge points can help better assess demand and potential profitability.

“The charging industry must continue to professionalise, with CPOs expanding their focus from planning alone towards optimising operations,” says Localiser CEO Oliver Arnhold. Hubject’s data will accordingly provide benchmarking for planned or expanding sites, as well as market insights for already operational charge points.

Hubject and Localiser describe the newly agreed data partnership as the first step in a broader collaboration. The goal is to improve the economic viability of charging networks and thereby support the further expansion of public charging infrastructure across Europe.
