Gruber Logistics electrifies component transportation for Alpitronic

Charging station manufacturer Alpitronic is advancing the decarbonisation of its supply chain. For the commuter route between Auer and Bolzano in South Tyrol, transport partner Gruber Logistics is using a fully electric truck from Scania.

It has recently come to light that Gruber Logistics has been using a battery-electric truck to transport component parts between its warehouse in Auer and Alpitronic’s production facility in Bolzano since spring 2026. The shuttle service operates several times a day along the approximately 20km route, directly supplying the European market leader in high-power charging stations with the components required for production.

The zero-emission transport is carried out using a Scania P230 B6x2*4NB — a pioneer among electric trucks. Originally introduced by Scania in 2020 as a solution for regional haulage, the e-truck offers a range of 250km and a gross vehicle weight of 26 tonnes, with a tare weight of around 12.5 tonnes.

However, the collaboration extends beyond mere transport services and includes mutual technological upgrades. Gruber Logistics has installed charging points using Alpitronic technology at its sites, while the charging infrastructure specialist benefits from electrified transport for its own production.

“Our long-standing cooperation with Alpitronic continues to develop steadily. We have installed our own charging stations using Alpitronic technology and, within the framework of the European FLEXMCS project, we are jointly working on the development of megawatt charging infrastructure,” explained Martin Gruber, CEO of Gruber Logistics. “The deployment of our Scania electric truck for Alpitronic once again highlights the strong partnership between our two South Tyrolean companies.”

Alpitronic also emphasises the holistic approach. “Gruber Logistics delivers components to our production site in Bolzano several times a day using an electrically powered truck. At the same time, we are equipping Gruber Logistics’ locations with the appropriate charging infrastructure,” states Philipp Senoner, CEO of Alpitronic. “This turns a reliable cooperation into a partnership that is making a tangible contribution to advancing electric mobility in logistics and helping to reduce emissions.”

Gruber Logistics began electrifying its truck fleet relatively early. Battery-electric 26-tonne trucks have long been used in regional distribution. In early 2023, the South Tyrolean company also ordered 50 electric 40-tonne trucks from Volvo, Scania, and Iveco, which were scheduled for fleet integration by 2025. Last year, Gruber was also named as one of the partners for the electrification of Daimler Truck’s inbound logistics.
