Forum Mobility expands California truck charging network
US electric fleet service provider Forum Mobility is building four truck charging sites in California, expanding its charging capacity by 30 megawatts. The company is leveraging a close partnership with Tesla, which will operate public 'Megachargers' at three of the four locations.

A relatively young company, Forum Mobility has established itself as a key service provider in the US electric truck industry. The company offers services such as electric truck leasing and charging hubs. Forum Mobility plans to soon operate multiple charging locations along major freight routes, which truck operators without their own charging infrastructure can use as shared depots. This includes a charging park in Rancho Dominguez, California, set to feature 14 megawatt chargers. Completion is scheduled for Q1 2027. A site at the Port of Long Beach is already in operation.
What’s new is that Forum Mobility is now pursuing the installation of four additional depot locations in California. According to an accompanying statement, these are intended to “provide seamless access for carriers of all sizes, reducing costs per mile and ensuring reliable service for zero-emission fleets”. The new depots will be then be distributed across Northern and Southern California and will partially feature MCS as well as CCS chargers, along with truck-compatible drive-through lanes. With the inclusion of these sites, Forum Mobility’s available CCS and MCS charging capacity is set to grow to 40 megawatts.
High utilisation is expected from the outset, “driven by foundational OEM and fleet commitments”. Forum Mobility states that it has already received commitments from 25 customers with more than 330 Tesla Semi trucks for the charging hub in Rancho Dominguez alone. This synergy is now also set to form the basis for the further rollout: Tesla is then to operate its own public Megachargers at three of the four new locations – namely in Ontario, Adeline, and Oakland.
In addition, Forum Mobility has installed two new Tesla MCS Megachargers at Harbor, its depot at the Port of Long Beach, which has been in operation since December 2024. The Tesla truck chargers complement the 44 CCS charging connections already maintained by Forum on-site, with a total capacity of 9 MW.
“The highly favorable total cost of ownership for battery-electric class 8 trucks has driven rapid motor carrier adoption,” said Matt LeDucq, CEO and co-founder of Forum Mobility. “We are excited to expand our offerings, delivering competitively leased trucks and dedicated charging facilities that allow our customers to operate safely, reliably, fuel quickly, and at a lower cost per mile than diesel.”
In building the depots, Forum Mobility is also being supported by grants and other funding – including from the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD), the California Energy Commission (CEC), and the California Transportation Commission (CTC).
