Efacec unveils charging hub solution with up to 1.6 MW

Portuguese manufacturer Efacec has presented a charging park platform with up to 16 DC satellite chargers. The so-called "Charging Hub" consolidates all components of a charging park, from charging technology to software and medium-voltage equipment, into a single solution.

Efacec has introduced its new “Charging Hub” solution: a platform featuring up to 16 DC charging points and a cumulative power output of 1.6 MW. The solution is “designed to meet the growing requirements of fleets” and is equally suitable for passenger cars and commercial vehicles. Efacec states it’s been developed entirely in-house, and brings together the company’s “charging technology, medium-voltage equipment, automation, grid integration and software capabilities, enabling an integrated solution”.
The platform is based on modular power units of 800 kW, which enable operators to configure or adjust charging capacity according to demand. The power modularity is available in 40 kW increments. The satellite charging stations can feature either one or two charging points and offer different continuous currents (2x 250 A, 2x 375 A, 2x 500 A or 1x 700 A). According to Efacec, an “Active Boost Mode” is available for temporarily increasing the currents. The platform is currently designed for CCS connectors but is engineered to support the future use of MCS at 1000 volts.

Efacec’s new product can be delivered either as a standalone HPC charging unit or as a complete MV-to-DC solution, including the aforementioned medium-voltage infrastructure, charging equipment, automation and grid integration. “This gives customers a single technology provider for the electrical infrastructure required to connect the charging system to the grid, reducing interfaces between different suppliers and simplifying project design and deployment,” Efacec states.
