Amazon receives delivery of first eActros 600 trucks in Germany
Mercedes-Benz Trucks has handed over the first 27 eActros 600 to Amazon in Germany. More than 50 of the electric trucks are due to enter operation for the online retailer there by the end of the year.

The vehicles stem from the large-scale order agreed upon at the beginning of 2025 by Amazon for more than 200 eActros 600 trucks. Around 140 of these were earmarked for the UK from the outset, with around 50 intended for Germany. The first vehicles from this order entered service in the UK at the end of 2025. Now, the larger-scale delivery for the German market is also beginning.
Amazon plans to deploy the eActros 600 on the so-called ‘middle mile’, meaning for transport between logistics centres and urban areas. The companies have not disclosed how the more than 50 vehicles will be distributed across individual locations and routes in Germany, nor what mileage is planned.
The large-scale order was preceded by a practical test with a near-series prototype of the eActros 600 at a German Amazon logistics centre. Amazon has also been using heavy-duty electric trucks in Germany for several years: among other things, the company ordered a total of 20 Volvo FH Electric trucks for its German transport network in 2022.
Amazon expands e-truck fleet and charging infrastructure
The eActros 600 has been in series production at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Wörth am Rhein since the end of 2024. Its three LFP battery packs offer a total installed capacity of 621 kWh. Mercedes-Benz Trucks states a range of around 500 km without intermediate charging. The vehicle can be charged at up to 400 kW via CCS.
To expand its e-truck fleet, Amazon states it is installing several hundred truck charging points at European locations. Under defined conditions, the eActros 600 can be charged from 20 to 80 per cent in just over an hour at 400 kW. The current announcement does not specify how many such charging points Amazon already operates in Germany.
Overall, Amazon intends to invest more than one billion euros in the electrification and decarbonisation of its European transport network, including more than 400 million euros in Germany. However, these investment targets are not new: Amazon first announced them back in 2022 as part of a five-year plan. At that time, the company also envisaged expanding its European e-truck fleet from 38 to more than 1,500 vehicles, including more than 500 in Germany. Amazon did not specify a concrete timeframe for this fleet target.
The current handover thus marks less the beginning than the scaling up of battery-electric heavy-duty transport at Amazon in Germany. In parallel, the company is pursuing other procurement models. In the US, for example, 75 electric trucks from Einride are to be integrated into the middle-mile network; the scale of the Mercedes order is particularly notable.
