BMW has expanded its next-generation Neue Klasse electric vehicle family with the introduction of the BMW iX3 M60 xDrive, a high-performance M Performance variant that transforms the brand's all-electric SUV into its most powerful form yet. The new model combines a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain, advanced chassis technology, and distinctive M-inspired styling while delivering performance figures that place it among the fastest electric SUVs in BMW's portfolio.
Positioned at the top of the iX3 range, the iX3 M60 xDrive produces up to 450 kW, equivalent to 612 horsepower, from electric motors mounted on both axles. BMW says the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.9 seconds, highlighting the growing performance potential of the company's Neue Klasse architecture. Orders are scheduled to open at the end of January 2027.
The new flagship arrives as BMW continues to roll out the technologies underpinning its next generation of electric vehicles. Like other Neue Klasse models, the iX3 M60 xDrive combines a newly developed vehicle architecture with the company's latest software, battery, charging, and dynamics systems. BMW describes the SUV as a showcase for technological progress, powerful electric drive systems, and the sporty driving character traditionally associated with its M division.
Visually, the iX3 M60 xDrive receives a more aggressive interpretation of BMW's latest design language. New M-specific styling elements help distinguish the model from standard variants, including optional M Yellow Lights inspired by BMW motorsport models. The performance SUV also features unique lighting signatures and model-specific exterior details intended to emphasize its sporting credentials.
Inside, BMW has given the cabin a dedicated M treatment while retaining the Neue Klasse platform's clean, technology-focused design. The interior incorporates the latest BMW Panoramic iDrive system and BMW Operating System X, bringing a stronger driver-focused layout together with advanced digital interfaces. BMW says the result is a new interpretation of its longstanding emphasis on driver engagement and ergonomics.
Performance upgrades extend well beyond straight-line acceleration. The iX3 M60 xDrive comes standard with adaptive M suspension, variable sport steering, and an M Sport differential. These systems work alongside BMW's new Heart of Joy central control computer and M Dynamic Performance Control software, which continuously process driving data and coordinate vehicle responses in milliseconds. According to BMW, the technology enables more precise handling, sharper reactions, and a driving experience that feels more natural and connected.
Despite its focus on performance, the SUV still delivers impressive efficiency figures. BMW quotes a maximum WLTP driving range of up to 754 kilometers, or 468 miles, helping position the model as both a long-distance cruiser and a performance machine. The company's latest battery and powertrain technologies also support charging speeds of up to 400 kW, enabling significantly shorter charging stops during long journeys.
The iX3 M60 xDrive represents an important milestone for BMW as the first fully electric M Performance model based on the Neue Klasse platform. Rather than simply adding more power, the company has focused on integrating advanced software-controlled vehicle dynamics, next-generation electric propulsion, and M-specific chassis tuning into a single package.
With over 600 horsepower, sub-four-second acceleration, long-range capability, and BMW's newest digital and dynamic technologies, the iX3 M60 xDrive is designed to demonstrate how the brand intends to blend electrification with its traditional performance heritage. As the Neue Klasse rollout continues, the electric SUV will serve as the flagship performance expression of BMW's next-generation vision for premium electric mobility.
