dcbel’s V2X pilot offers Massachusetts homeowners a free Home Energy Station

Massachusetts EV drivers who choose to participate in a V2X pilot could receive a free “smart energy station,” enabling them to supply their homes and EVs with solar power, and use vehicle-to-home tech to power their homes in case of outages.
dcbel, in collaboration with partners TMH, Resource Innovation and B2Q, is participating in the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center’s V2X Pilot Program, which subsidizes the cost of a dcbel Ara Home Energy Station, including installation, for Massachusetts homeowners.
Massachusetts homeowners are eligible to apply for the program if they own or lease a 2018-2025 Nissan Leaf, a 2025 Polestar 3 or a 2025 Volvo EX90, and do not already have solar or battery storage installed. Applications are open through September 30, 2026, or until program funds are exhausted.
dcbel’s solar and home battery solution Ara, together with a bidirectional-capable EV, enables smart charging during off-peak hours, and can also be used as a backup power source.
The V2X Demonstration Program is designed to explore how EVs can serve as grid resources. MassCEC will gather real-world data on system performance, environmental and financial impact, and user behavior to guide future V2X initiatives in the state.
